Micronesia is a subregion of Oceania which is an archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean. Micronesia is politically divided into several sovereign countries which are: The Federated States of Micronesia, palau, Kiribati, The Marshall Islands, Narau and three U.S. territories Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and Wake islands.

Comprised of over 2000 islands, the place is popular for non spoilt and clean beaches and its pristine environment.


Federated States Of Micronesia

Federal States of Micronesia also known as Micronesia but it should not be confused with the overall region. Micronesia is made up of four island states: Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap.

Majority of it is made of a coral atoll and has a tropical marine climate. Though not quite popular this place is perfect destination if you’re searching for a quite and placid vacation.

Chuuk (Truk lagoon)

Chuuk famous for its natural beauty, possess lush vegetation and is an ideal place for a peaceful vacation. Along with its beauty, it is the Mecca for wreck divers. Plenty of ship wreckers visit this place as it is their best diving destination. This place has many historical artifacts discovered here.

Scuba enthusiasts regard the Truk Lagoon Underwater fleet as the world’s most intriguing dives. It is one of the most notable attraction in Micronesia.


Pohnpei

Pohnpei is the capital of Federate States Micronesia. It fits the typical South sea island image with lush vegetation, abundant rainfall and tumbling waterfalls. It has tropical jungles, mist-covered mountains and mangrove swamps unlike the other Micronesian islands.

There are many activities to do in Pohnpei like mountain and jungle hiking, waterfalls, snorkeling, fishing and surfing and getting lost in the mangrove forests.

Nan Madol

Nan Madol is an archaeological site near eastern shore of Pohnpei. It is called the “Venice of the Pacific”. This ruin is constructed within a lagoon and is made up of several artificial small islands joined together by a series of canals.

The Spanish wall which is in the capital Kolonia, is the remains of the old Spanish fort and Sokehs rock are the other places to visit in Pohnpei.


Kosrae

Kosrae is an island with clean white sand beaches and mangrove forests. The attractions of Kosrae are varied and numerous. It is the place that reflects ecotourism. Some of the places you should visit in Kosrae are:


Leluh Ruins: It is a historical ruin of the Neolithic world. The ruins are part of the civilization of around 14th-15thcentury era.

How To Get In Federated States Of Micronesia?

You can travel through plane and boat. Pohnpei is the main airport with international flights connectivity. Moreover, the major international ports for traveling by boat are Chuuk, Pohnpei and Yap. There are inter-island trading ships in these major ports which visits other islands.
