The Beas kund trek is one of the most popular treks of the most popular treks of the region. The trail takes you through the awe-inspiring locations as you move towards the Pir Pangal range. Crossing the river banks hushing towards your destination you will encounter some of the most wondrous locations of the state.

The short trek is not a tough one. It doesn’t require prior trekking experience so individuals of any age group can join in. The 4-day trail takes you to Solang valley. The valley is a perfect place for paragliding. Dense coniferous forest, blue skies and serene air will fill your heart with nature’s love. The grasslands of Dhundi and Bakarthach await for your presence. The beauty of these untouched grasslands is beyond words. Keep your camera handy as the charm of these landscape deserve to be snapped.

As you make your way towards the pristine lake, the journey becomes more adventurous. Surrounded by snow cladded peaks, the holy lake is situated at an altitude of 3700 meters. Take a dip in the holy waters to make the journey even more memorable. The beauty of the landscape is mind boggling. The trek is soaked in adventures as you move through the virgin forests.


History

The holy lake is said to be the site of origination of the Beas river. It is believed that Maharishi Vyas used to bath in the kund. Some even believe that Maharishi Rishi meditated near the kund and even wrote the epic Mahabharata here.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Manali – Solang – Dhundi

The trail commences from the resort town of Manali. You’ll drive 13kms to reach the paradise of adventures, Solang valley. The breath taking landscape is the starting point of many treks. To reach Dhundi you need to ascend gradually for 8kms. Dhundi, the land of wild flowers, is a small meadows with incomparable scenic beauty. Under the star studded night sky, camping will rejuvenate your senses.

Day 2: Dhundi – Bakarthach

Today’s trail will take you to the exotic meadow of Bakarthach. The high altitude meadow is 6km away from Dhundi. The captivating meadow sits at the height of 10,800ft. The beauty of the meadows blends perfectly with the reverberating silence. Set a camp for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Bakarthach – Beas Kund – Bakarthach

Wake up to the alluring view as the first rays of the hit the grassland.  To reach our destination, we need to climb up the ridge through Bhoj Patra. The glacial lake is surrounded by peaks making the sight more magical. The holy lake with its emerald waters spreads it’s grandeur at an altitude of 11,600ft. Just a dip in the lake can take away all your weariness from the trail. Spend the day by the magnificent lake. Headback to Bakarthach in the evening.

Day 4: Bakarthach – Solang – Manali

The trail takes you back to Solang through the same route. Here’s your another chance to get some pictures of the wondrous valley. Drive back to Manali to where it all began. The revitalising experience of the trek will quench your thirst for an adventure.
