Don’t Make The Same Mistakes I Made When I First Began Travelling- Part 5

Sharing is caring!

Here go part five of my travelling tips! These are several small mistakes I made in the past from which I have learned so much, and now I wish to share these with you so you don’t make the same. It’s great to keep these things in mind before or while travelling to ensure that your trip is the best! There are of course so many other things you can add to this list, but here are some important ones for you.

Always Back A Day Before You Leave

Packing a few hours before your departure is not only a nightmare but also chaotic. It is during this time you are bound to miss out on packing a number of essentials. Packing a day ahead ensures that you have enough time to prepare and pack your items and also gives you more time to pack those items you may have forgotten.

Start Saving Early

We all start off with promising ourselves that we will stick to our strict travel budgets, but come on, how often does that really happen? While travelling, you are bound to find something that you absolutely adore in the local markets or you may want to splurge a little extra on food, thus having some extra money in your hand will certainly help in these cases. Start saving up for your trip months in advance and carry those extra dollars with you just in case.

Unlock Your Phone

If you are planning to travel or stay in a new country for a month or longer, it is a good idea to have your phone unlocked. This will allow you to use local sim cards and access the local network. Unlocking your phone is extremely important because (i) you don’t need to invest in a new local one and go through the trouble of registering for a sim and (ii) you need your phone to use essential apps for navigation and communication.

 Purchase A Good Camera

Let’s be honest, photographs are the one thing that help retain the wonderful memories during our trip. It would suck to come back after an amazing trip only to have blurry photographs! Investing in a good camera will not only help you retain your memories but it will also come in aid for your photo blog!

Check Your Health Before You Leave

It is always a good idea to go to the doctor a few days before you leave, not only to get a health checkup, but to also clear up any doubts you have regarding how to stay healthy for your upcoming trip.

Keep An Open Mind And Ask Questions!

When you are travelling to a new country, you are bound to be fascinated by the local culture, history, people, traditions and culture. This may bring up a number of questions in your mind. Don’t be afraid to ask locals about their country and keep an open mind about what you see.

It’s Okay To Splurge

Sometimes you feel guilty to splurge on things like a souvenirs or food. Remember then, that you have worked very hard to earn this money and even harder to make it on the trip. While you may want to spend as little as you can now and save up for future trips, remember that you are entitled to having fun during your current adventures.

It is okay to splurge on a good hotel if you fall sick, it’s okay to eat a meal in a five-star restaurant after eating street food for five days straight, and it is okay to buy that dress that you have been eyeing in the market for the past week but refused to buy because of its price. Remember that you will only regret not buying something on your way back home.
