Overview

Another attraction is available during the winter. Mountain passes within the Himalayas are buried in snow most of the year, but the Kuari Pass trek can be done in winter. Even though you don’t cross the pass, you climb to the top so that you can enjoy the views from above.

A few times, you might come across the footprints of the rare Himalayan Bear or Leopard. One of the main attractions of the Kuari Pass trek is the chance to camidst lushlush green meadows, including numerous verdant pastures with Himalayan views. The Kuari pass is often referred to as the Doorway. Kuari Pass Trek is perhaps the most well-known trek in the Garhwal Himalayas.

Drive Distance: 263 km Drive Duration: 9-10 hours Pick-up Point for Trip Photo Trekkers: Live Free Hostel, Rishikesh Transportation will be arranged promptly at 6:00 AM. The cost for transportation must be borne by trekkers and paid directly to the driver. The charges are as follows: Rs 7,500 per vehicle (5-6 seater) Rs 11,000 per Tempo Traveller (12 seaters) These charges are for one-way transport.

Initially, there's a bit of a steep climb for the first 20 minutes, followed by a gradual ascent lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours through the enchanting forest cover adorned with oaks and maple trees.

Trek Distance: 7.65 km Trek Duration: 8-9 hours Altitude Gain and Loss: From 11,014 ft to 10,890 ft via 12,598 ft Prepare for a full day of adventure as you ascend to the majestic Kuari Top. The journey begins with a steep ascent, following in the footsteps of the legendary Lord Curzon's trail until you reach the summit. From the Kuari top, you'll be treated to an awe-inspiring panoramic view, where the list of towering mountains before you is akin to perusing a menu card of nature's grandeur. As the trek progresses, you'll traverse along a windy ridge, encountering a mix of ascent and descent before descending into the serene forests of Chitrakantha and Tali, where the verdant beauty of the surroundings provides a tranquil retreat after the day's exhilarating adventure.

Nanda Devi on this unforgettable day of trekking. The journey begins with an ascent to Tali Lake, winding through dense forests before navigating along a sharp ledge, offering breathtaking views along the way. As you continue your trek, the mountains loom larger, and the landscape transforms into the picturesque Gorson Bugyal, a stunning high-altitude meadow. Finally, the trek culminates in the charming town of Auli, where you can bask in the beauty of the surroundings and reflect on the incredible journey you've undertaken.

Depart from Joshimath and reach Rishikesh

Drive Distance: 263 km Drive Duration: 9-10 hours Drop-off Point: Live Free Hostel, Rishikesh You are expected to return to Rishikesh by 7:00 PM. The transportation cost is to be covered by trekkers and paid directly to the driver. The charges are as follows: Rs 7,000 per vehicle (shared among 5-6 trekkers) Rs 10,500 for a Tempo Traveler Please Note: The distance between campsites may vary by up to 100 meters due to weather conditions and route variations. Similarly, the altitude may vary by up to 100 feet for similar reasons.
