Best Time to Visit

Spring and autumn offer the most enchanting conditions for the Pindari Glacier trek. From April to May, the Himalayas reveal their full glory with pleasantly warm days between 15-20°C and chilly nights dipping to 7-2°C. September to November showcases autumn's vibrant hues, with mild days ranging from 15-10°C and progressively cooler nights dropping to 5 -5°C, offering glimpses of winter magic. It's best to avoid the monsoon months (June to August) due to heavy rainfall, landslides, and treacherous trail conditions, and winter can be extremely harsh, making the trek challenging and potentially dangerous. Regardless of when you embark on this adventure, prepare for diverse weather conditions by dressing in layers.

By Flight

  1. Fly to Pantnagar Airport: The nearest airport to Khati is Pantnagar Airport, located about 250 km away. Pantnagar Airport is well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi.

  2. Transfer to Khati: From Pantnagar, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Khati. The journey will involve traveling through Almora and Bageshwar.

By Bus

  1. Bus to Almora or Bageshwar: Direct buses from major cities in Uttarakhand or nearby states are available to Almora or Bageshwar.Buses from Delhi, Haldwani, and other cities are available to Almora and Bageshwar.

  2. Local Transport to Khati: From Almora or Bageshwar, hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach Khati. The final leg of the journey may involve travel on local roads, so it's advisable to check the schedule of local buses as they may be less frequent.

Quick Facts about Pindari Glacier Trek

Mobile Connectivity: The BSNL network is available at the base camp and in some villages along the route, but connectivity can be sporadic in the higher sections of the trek. It's advisable to inform your family about limited connectivity before starting.

ATM Availability: The last ATM point is in Kapkot, a small town en route to the trek's base camp. Ensure to withdraw sufficient cash for the trek from Kapkot or earlier locations, as there are no ATMs beyond this point.

Electricity: Electricity is available at the base camp, but once you ascend, there are no charging facilities along the trail. Be prepared with power banks (10,000 mAh or more) and extra batteries for cameras or other devices.

Cash: Carry around Rs 5000-6000 in cash to cover transport, rental gear, and personal expenses, as electronic payment options are unavailable in the remote areas of the trek.
