The Hatu Peak Trek is accessible year-round, but the best time to visit is March to June (for pleasant weather and clear views) and September to November (for crisp post-monsoon air). Winter (December to February) offers a magical snow-covered landscape, perfect for snow trekking. Monsoon (July-August) is not recommended due to slippery trails.
By Flight
The nearest airport to Narkanda is Jubbarhatti Airport (SLV), Shimla, about 82 km away. However, flights to this airport are limited.
The best alternative is to fly to Chandigarh Airport (IXC), which is 178 km from Narkanda. From Chandigarh, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Narkanda (about 6–7 hours drive).
By Bus
From Delhi:
Take a Volvo or HRTC bus from ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Shimla (8–9 hours).
From Shimla, board a local HRTC bus or hire a taxi to Narkanda (2–3 hours).
From Chandigarh:
Buses to Shimla are available from ISBT Sector 43 (4–5 hours).
From Shimla, take another bus or taxi to Narkanda (2–3 hours).
By Train
The nearest railway station is Kalka Railway Station (KLK), around 143 km from Narkanda.
From Kalka, you can take the Kalka-Shimla Toy Train to Shimla (5–6 hours), then hire a taxi or take a bus to Narkanda (2–3 hours).
Alternatively, you can take a direct taxi from Kalka to Narkanda, which takes around 5–6 hours.
