Sankar Monastery

Sankar Monastery, located in Leh, Ladakh, is a small yet spiritually significant Buddhist monastery known for its peaceful environment and stunning Tibetan-style architecture. Backdrop

Sankar Monastery is relatively modern compared to other monasteries in Ladakh, yet it holds immense religious significance. It is the official residence of the Abbot of Ladakh, the head of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery features beautifully decorated prayer halls, golden prayer wheels, and a large statue of Avalokiteshvara with 1,000 arms and 11 heads, symbolizing compassion and wisdom.
