Backdrop

Discovered in 1931 by British mountaineer Frank Smythe, the Valley of Flowers has since captivated botanists, trekkers, and spiritual seekers. Spanning 87.5 sq. km, the valley comes alive during the monsoon season with over 600 species of wildflowers, including blue poppies, orchids, primulas, and daisies. The park is also home to rare wildlife, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan monal (state bird of Uttarakhand).
